Amid rising unemployment, home foreclosures and bankruptcies, NV Energy's Energy Assistance Expos bring tangible assistance to the customers who need it the most.
The Expos are designed to educate customers about the variety of available assistance programs available and, in many cases, sign them up to those programs the same day.
At the Expo, local nonprofit agencies and organizations come together to create a one-stop shop for people to get help and to learn about the importance of conservation and energy efficiency. The Expos are also intended educate the community about available resources and help customers with near-term financial assistance.
Since the initial Expo in 2007, NV Energy has hosted 8 expos in Las Vegas, Reno, Carson City, Elko and Henderson. Energy Assistance Expos in Las Vegas, Reno, Fernley and Carson City are planned for 2010. More than 5,000 people have attended the Expos that were staffed by more than 265 NV Energy employee and agency volunteers. NV Energy's Energy Assistance Expo one-stop shop approach to energy assistance received the 2007 Edison Electric Institute Advocacy Excellence Award.
